SYNOPSIS
Anna's job as a geologist takes her all over the world, including to the beautiful island of Elba, where she's sent to look for precious metals. And the island isn't the only thing that's gorgeous - she can't believe her luck when she meets windsurfer Marco and sparks fly.
But Anna must keep her role on Elba a secret to avoid upsetting the locals, which means lying to Marco even as they grow closer. When her old friend Toby visits, Anna suddenly finds herself torn between the attentions of the two men. However, Anna's not the only one keeping secrets.
Is Marco being entirely honest with her? And why did Toby really come to visit?

I’m a man. And a pretty old man as well. I did languages at university a long time ago and then lived and worked in France and Switzerland before going to Italy for seven years as a teacher of English. My Italian wife and I then came back to the UK with our little daughter (now long-since grown up) where I ran a big English language school for many years. We now live in a sleepy little village in Devonshire. I’ve been writing almost all my life but it was only seven years ago that I finally managed to find a publisher who liked my work enough to offer me my first contract.
The fact that I am now writing romantic comedy is something I still find hard to explain. My early books were thrillers and historical novels. Maybe it’s because there are so many horrible things happening in the world today that I feel I need to do my best to provide something to cheer my readers up. My books provide escapism to some gorgeous locations, even if travel to them is currently difficult.

REVIEW
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Is there a pandemic around and traveling abroad is not advisable yet? Don’t worry, you can do the next best thing and travel from your couch (or wherever you read) and what better destination than Italy? Once again T.A. Williams paints a really vivid picture of a gorgeous Italian location that will make you feel you’re the one swimming in the Mediterranean, taking a stroll through the island of Elba or enjoying one of the mouth watering delicacies described (not recommendable to read it on an empty stomach!).
Anna was such an enjoyable character. For once, her job is not the typical we use to see in this kind of stories, so it was nice to learn a bit about mining and its impact on the environment. She’s married to her job but after not one but two dreamy suitors come into her life she starts questioning what she really wants in her life. She felt constantly torn between Sensible Anna and Naughty Anna and I liked this kind of angel and demon situation.
Usually in these rom-coms it is fairly clear from the get go who the leading lady is ending up with but, in this case, the intrigue lasted until the end, so the not knowing who (if any) she would end up with was interesting.
But if there was a character I truly fell in love with was George, a gorgeous labrador that proves that dogs are really man’s best friend and that, in most cases, they are better than humans. Both George and his owner Jack were so lovable and what he did for Anna was such a nice gesture.
Until things go back to normal once and for all I have no doubt, T.A. Williams books are my favorite way of traveling.
Thanks to NetGalley and Canelo for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
