SYNOPSIS
Life's a drag until you try . . .
Robin Cooper’s life is falling apart.
While his friends prepare to head off to University, Robin is looking at a pile of rejection letters from drama schools up and down the country, and facing a future without the people he loves the most. Everything seems like it’s ending, and Robin is scrabbling to find his feet.
Unsure about what to do next and whether he has the talent to follow his dreams, he and his best friends go and drown their sorrows at a local drag show, where Robin realizes there might be a different, more sequinned path for him . . .
With a mother who won't stop talking, a boyfriend who won't acknowledge him and a best friend who is dying to cover him in glitter make up, there's only one thing for Robin to do: bring it to the runway.

REVIEW
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"Rejection is part of the deal. You either let it kill you, or let it make you stronger"
10, 10, 10 across the board! I can't even begin to tell you what joy was reading this book. I loved every single minute of it and that's not something that happens often. Who doesn't like a little bit of glitter in their life? I sure do! I'm actually quite jealous of the new generations having this kind of stories while they grow up trying to find themselves.
I got invested into Robin's story right from that first dance lesson. He was so adorable! I really felt for him when he got that letter. Having all your life plans crushed in just a few seconds must be devastating! His joy when he was on the stage was palpable and I may have or may have not (definitely may) gotten a little bit teary during his final performance. He might have made some mistakes with his mum and friends but he learnt from them and was not afraid to say sorry. I also loved how his mum was so supportive of his dreams.
All the drag queens and their banter and reads were so funny, it was like watching an episode of RuPaul's Drag Race. I loved how it was pointed out that the world of drag does not start and end with that tv show and that drag is not just a guy's thing. Robin's drag mother/daughter relationship with Kaye was full of cute moments and she gave him some mean advice!
My least favorite part was his relationship with Connor. I understand it was necessary for the plot and to show his personal growth but I hated seeing how badly he was treated by him. Sure, everyone needs their time to come out, but the fact you're not ready doesn't give you permission to behave as an homophobic prick!
This read was absolutely SICKENING and such an uplifting read that you will go from laughter to tears in a matter of seconds. George Lester, shantay, you stay!
