SYNOPSIS
How far would you go to find The One?
A simple DNA test is all it takes. Just a quick mouth swab and soon you’ll be matched with your perfect partner—the one you’re genetically made for.
That’s the promise made by Match Your DNA. A decade ago, the company announced that they had found the gene that pairs each of us with our soul mate. Since then, millions of people around the world have been matched. But the discovery has its downsides: test results have led to the breakup of countless relationships and upended the traditional ideas of dating, romance and love.
Now five very different people have received the notification that they’ve been “Matched.” They’re each about to meet their one true love. But “happily ever after” isn’t guaranteed for everyone. Because even soul mates have secrets. And some are more shocking than others…

REVIEW
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫
My friend Jen could not believe that I hadn't read "The one" yet, and I must confess that based on the premise I kept postponing it again and again thinking it would be too sci-fi for me. When my group of bookish besties decided to do a group read of this one I caved to peer pressure and decided to join in, and so glad I did!
It wasn't sci-fi; it wasn't your typical thriller, but at the same time it was both mixed with some drama, a little romance and a little humour (always love when there's some humour laced in).
Would you be willing to meet your soulmate, the only person in the world genetically made to fit with you? The Match your DNA technology allows you to find that person but, should you try to find them even when you're already on a relationship? What if the One lives on the other side of the world? All these questions and dilemmas are the ones the five main characters of this novel try to get answered. But even (perfect) love and the perfect match are not always synonymous with happy endings.
Although some of the stories were more interesting, all of them kept my attention until the end and I never got bored. I liked how different all of them were. The really short chapters made me flew through them and I'm sure I would have read it in one sitting had not my "not DNA matched" soulmate made me get up from the couch.😅
Several really interesting ethical dilemmas were presented and what initially looked like sweet love stories (well, 4 out of 5) kept twisting and turning. While some of those twists were predictable I didn't see coming some others, so it was nice being surprised until the end. Some of the endings were a bit soap opera for me but the overall made of The One a winner. Now I can't wait to read Mr. Marrs other novels set in this universe.
This is one of my favorites. Loved The One!
ReplyDeleteI didn't expect to love it as much as I did!
