LO QUE LA MAREA ESCONDE

SINOPSIS

English

In the fourth installment in the “Puerto Escondido” series, the author pays homage to the classic noir novel of the early twentieth century and the “locked room mysteries” in the tradition of Agatha Christie or Gaston Leroux, and she delivers a story Poirot’s mother herself would be proud.

Lieutenant Valentina Redondo is going through a rough patch in her personal life when she takes over a case with a seemingly impossible crime. The victim appears in a locked cabin in a schooner, with no other way in. The list of suspects comes down to the crew and a small group of guests with reasons enough to want the victim dead.

The balance between classic detective novel based on deduction and the questioning of suspects and the current crime novel based on technology and forensics is very well done. The crime’s resolution is pretty witty and the parallels with a real life story prove that everything has an explanation no matter how impossible it may seem.

Quick and entertaining read that will delight classic noir fans and will make the reader put their grey cells to work.

I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to read... MY BRAND NEW BLOG! (Look at me plagiarazing   drawing inspiration from Adele for my very first entry).                                                               She approves! So, if you're here reading this...THANK YOU for tuning in! For those who don't know me my name is Javier and after more than a year writing reviews on sites as Goodreads and NetGalley I decided to create my own blog to share my love of books with the world. When I first started writing reviews I was not able to put two sentences together, but as I kept writing I realized I had lots to say about the books I read. Rest assured my reviews will always be honest (no problems here telling when I don't like something) and spoiler free (I hate spoilers!). My personal preferences are:    - Mystery/Suspense/Thriller (medical, legal, cozy... if there's a dead body, I'm in. Not for nothing I'm a medical examiner myself)    - Conte
