AN ESCAPE TO REMEMBER

SYNOPSIS

When Louise surprises her boyfriend by returning early from a work trip, safe to say she wasn’t expecting to see him in flagrante delicto with another woman. Heart-torn and vowing to stay away from men, when Louise’s next project involves restoring an ageing hotel in Italy, she leaps at the chance to get away.

Managed by a crew of sextagenarians, the Grand Hotel del Monferrato needs all the love and care Louise can give it. But it’s hard to stay focused on the job when her thoughts keep straying to Vito, the reclusive and mysterious owner of the hotel.

With his tragic past and her no-romance policy, Louise knows they can’t have a future. Yet something keeps pulling the two together.

I’m a man. And a pretty old man as well. I did languages at university a long time ago and then lived and worked in France and Switzerland before going to Italy for seven years as a teacher of English. My Italian wife and I then came back to the UK with our little daughter (now long-since grown up) where I ran a big English language school for many years. We now live in a sleepy little village in Devonshire. I’ve been writing almost all my life but it was only seven years ago that I finally managed to find a publisher who liked my work enough to offer me my first contract.

The fact that I am now writing escapist romance is something I still find hard to explain. My early books were thrillers and historical novels. Maybe it’s because there are so many horrible things happening in the world today that I feel I need to do my best to provide something to cheer my readers up. My books provide escapism to some gorgeous locations, even if travel to them is currently difficult.

REVIEW

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

It’s not usual for male writers to write romance (at least I don’t know many), but T.A. Williams does and with An Escape To Remember he proves once again that he does it really well. Prepare yourself to be transported to the gorgeous hills of Turin where you will fall in love not only with the setting but with a cast of lovable characters. And the food! Let’s not forget about the food! 😄

After a shocking surprise when coming home from her last work trip, Louise vows to stay away from men and travels to Italy to get an old hotel up and running, but her new mysterious neighbor will put to the test her no-romance policy.

No one makes me wanna move to Italy as much as T.A. Williams. He really brings to life the Italian countryside with fantastic scenery descriptions that make you wish you were right there along the characters having some ice cream. Or a pizza. Or Luigino’s half and hour worth of antipasti! Once again…chef’s kiss! (pun intended) 👨‍🍳

Louise was a wonderful lead. She was kind and had warmth and despite her obvious attraction to certain reclusive neighbor she didn’t force anything and let the slow burning romance flow. Well, she had the help of gorgeous Leo, a black Labrador that, if you’ve read some of the author’s previous work, you’ll have learn to expect. I love how he always includes a dog in his books, not just as a useless element, but as another character in the story.

The rest of the cast was also great. Domenica, Luigino, Calogero…made my heart warm. And Vito! He certainly sounded dreamy even despite his initial detachment. It was cute seeing how Louise’s presence slowly made him come out of his shell.

The ending felt a bit abrupt and quick, but could that mean a sequel is in the future? 🤞🏻

Fantastic escapist read with beautiful writing, magnificent locations and delightful characters that will whisk you away to Italy for a few dreamy hours.

Thanks to NetGalley and Canelo for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review and to Rachel’s Random Resources for my spot on the blog tour.

HELLO, IT’S ME!

I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to read... MY BRAND NEW BLOG! (Look at me plagiarazing   drawing inspiration from Adele for my very first entry).                                                               She approves! So, if you're here reading this...THANK YOU for tuning in! For those who don't know me my name is Javier and after more than a year writing reviews on sites as Goodreads and NetGalley I decided to create my own blog to share my love of books with the world. When I first started writing reviews I was not able to put two sentences together, but as I kept writing I realized I had lots to say about the books I read. Rest assured my reviews will always be honest (no problems here telling when I don't like something) and spoiler free (I hate spoilers!). My personal preferences are:    - Mystery/Suspense/Thriller (medical, legal, cozy... if there's a dead body, I'm in. Not for nothing I'm a medical examiner myself)    - Conte
