FINLAY DONOVAN IS KILLING IT

SYNOPSIS

Finlay Donovan is killing it . . . except, she’s really not. She’s a stressed-out single-mom of two and struggling novelist, Finlay’s life is in chaos: the new book she promised her literary agent isn’t written, her ex-husband fired the nanny without telling her, and this morning she had to send her four-year-old to school with hair duct-taped to her head after an incident with scissors.

When Finlay is overheard discussing the plot of her new suspense novel with her agent over lunch, she’s mistaken for a contract killer, and inadvertently accepts an offer to dispose of a problem husband in order to make ends meet . . . Soon, Finlay discovers that crime in real life is a lot more difficult than its fictional counterpart, as she becomes tangled in a real-life murder investigation.

REVIEW

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Finlay Donovan is killing it. Literally and metaphorically speaking! This book was exactly what I needed after my last reading slump.

Meet Finlay Donovan. Mom of two. Struggling novelist. Proud holder of a criminal record involving some play-doh and her ex-husband's new fiancee's car. Persona non grata at Panera.

While meeting her agent at said Panera (isn't she a badass?) she's mistaken with a hired killer and offered $50.000 just to get rid of some lady's husband. But she's not a killer, isn't she?

I just fell in love with Finlay (and her wig-scarf). She's a bit of a disaster, nothing ever goes according to plan, but you can't help to root for her. She's funny, endearing and has a bag full of tricks, not for nothing she does meticulous research for her own novels!

The predicaments she and her sidekick/nanny Vero found themselves in were uproariously fun. They made such a perfect investigative duo. I couldn't help but chuckle at their constant bantering. I just love when my mysteries have some comedy. And, as in one of her novels, the heroine has to deal with some romance and I could not be happier with her final decision.

The final lines left me with my mouth hanging open. I can't wait to see what's next in store for Finlay. I know that if this turns into a whole series I'm gonna be expecting each book anxiously!

Is it the most realistic story? No, but who cares when it's so much fun to read! A little bit of murder, a little bit of laughter, a little bit of romance and lots of hilarious moments make of "Finlay Donovan is killing it" an absolute winner.
